Recognizing the extraordinary importance of 3rd & Margaret, the signature corner in Terre Haute, Clint Sparks of American Structurepoint, Michael Wink and the Indiana Department of Transportation and Larry Robbins of the City of Terre Haute have worked with the Dr Tavel Center to improve the traffic flow and provide designated turn lanes on Margaret Avenue. An important part of the long term careful planning was to assure that the changes were all positive in nature and in no way adversely affect either the parking or the ingress & egress to and from this important Terre Haute landmark center.
The Dr Tavel Realty Group is pleased to announce that after a great deal of planning and careful review with, among others, Larry Jones and the Indiana Department of Transportation, a median cut at 960 North Mitthoeffer is underway. This change, the result of several meetings and research documents by Architect, James P. Lowry, AIA, and others, as well as traffic flow studies by William Fehribach and A & F engineering, have unequivocally shown positive effect on traffic flow at the corner of 10th & Mitthoeffer and will facilitate both easy left turns into the busy 10th & Mitthoeffer Shopping Center while increasing safety at the adjacent intersection.
In addition, the 10th and Mitthoeffer Shopping Center has undergone many beneficial constructional changes. Aside from the median cut which allows direct access to this strategically placed corner office and retail center by providing full direct access from all directions, the site will benefit from an increase in the number of parking spaces and the ability to add future tenants and landscaping to provide a more unified appearance to the already good looking center.
These benefits are the consequence of the acquisition and demolition of the adjacent property which has contributed to making the lot much more open, visible and appealing.
